GREEN-ICON Project Summary

Project "Awareness raising on environmentally sound use of interior materials and construction (GREENICON)" has brought together institutions from Latvia, Finland and Iceland and will last for two years. The project aim is to increase awaresness of the municipal authorities and other interest groups to make environment-friendly material selections; promote sustainable construction in interiors like in finishing materials, furniture and reduce environmental and health risks associated with construction and interior materials. To achieve mentioned purposes Nordic-Baltic cooperation between education institutions, construction company and municipalities will be established.

The main result of the project will be a procedural framework for a training toolkit in GREEN-ICON with practical and theoretical outcomes. In the field of adult learning Training Toolkit will be developed in order to make recommendations for the municipalities in the future construction activities.
Another important outcome will be awareness rising on environmentally sound use of interior materials and construction of all participants involved in the project development and implementation process. As well as pilot training participants will be able to assess GPP advantages and long-term benefits (heath, environmental and financial).
